Exam success at Highcroft Veterinary Referrals

26th August 2021

George and DarrenWe are celebrating the news that two of our clinicians, Darren Carwardine and George Nye, have passed their exams to become European Specialists in their chosen disciplines. Darren and George joined the team at Highcroft last summer shortly after completing their residencies at the University of Bristol, and have spent the last year working full time within the hospital whilst preparing for their Diploma exams June 2021.

Darren Carwardine BVSc MSc PhD DipECVS FHEA MRCVS is now an ECVS European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and says “I’m delighted to have passed my board exams this year and very grateful for all the support I have received over the years, both during my surgical residency and in my current position at Highcroft. My wife, who has supported me through this whole process, is particularly pleased that I have finished the residency and got through the exam at the first time of asking!” Darren Carwardine

George Nye BVetMed MSc DipECVN MRCVS is now an ECVN Specialist in Small Animal Neurology, and says “Achieving a diploma in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery is something I have been training and working hard towards for many years. It wouldn’t have come without the support of many fantastic colleagues both current and former. I am excited to continue to see neurological and neurosurgical cases both at Highcroft Referrals and the brand new hospital, Bristol Veterinary Specialists.”

The whole team are very proud of Darren and George who have worked hard alongside their colleagues whilst studying for the gruelling Diploma exams. Paul Higgs, Clinical Director explains “We have had a brilliant year with lots of our staff achieving their Diplomas and Specialist status. George and Darren, our most recent successful Specialists, are great assets to our team and bring their passion for their job with them every day. Congratulations to them both on their exam results and now being able to relax and enjoy their weekends a little more!”
