Ricardo De Sousa
Ricardo graduated from the University Vasco da Gama in Portugal in 2007 followed by a one year internship in a private referral practice in Barcelona. Ricardo then moved to UK in 2008 and spent the following three years working as a veterinary surgeon in a busy first opinion practice. Following his interest in small animal surgery, Ricardo undertook a surgical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals followed by a one-year rotational junior scholarship at Cambridge Veterinary School. In 2013, Ricardo joined the small animal teaching hospital of Liverpool University where he spent the following two years working as a clinical researcher and orthopaedic intern before joining Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists Ltd on a three-year residency program, credited by the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.
In 2018, Ricardo joined Langford Veterinary Specialists as a senior staff clinician surgeon before joining our orthopaedic department here at Highcroft Veterinary Referrals. Ricardo has co-authored several research projects, presented at multiple national and international congress events and in 2015 he was awarded the Leslie Vaughan prize for best clinical abstract presentation at the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association.
Ricardo is currently undertaking the CertAVP in imaging and is an examiner of the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies. Ricardo enjoys all aspects of surgery with a particular interest in total joint replacement.
